If only I could grow such wonderful delights in my pond. Its been a terrible summer for my waterlilies, no sun to warm up the water. Nice of you to share your lovely pictures of your waterlilies

I assume the chromatella is in fairly shallow water. Mine never pushes the flower off the water surface. I have it at 80-100 cm depth. (I need to have waterlilies deep because of the frost risk. I can have 50 cm of ice some years.
Anna Epple is new to me. very noice looking.

The Marliac waterlilies and others of similar pedigree do not need very warm water but they need light. I have no problems at nearly 60° North. If you have a pond in the open that does not freeze solid in the winter, waterlilies are not difficult but there is a great deal of Mumbo-Jumbo around - about special soils, special pots and other stufff.

Thanks Angie, Gerd and Zvone - Gerd, I would love to change the weather with yours ( at least for a few days ).

Gote, I agree with you - the "Mumbo - Jumbo" around cultivation of Nymphaea is strange - I use pure clay as soil and normal (large) plastic pots for growing them - this works very fine for me -  if you want to keep and enjoy water lilies you never should be use the peatbased soil for waterplants you can find in nearly every gardencenter - I still cannot understand why they sell such an unsuitable stuff.
Good Nymphaea for the north and cooler water are also the fantastic N. alba var. minor (I have seen it in Scotland - Inner and Outer Hebrides- often), N. candida and N. 'Froebeli' (said to be a selection of swedish N. alba var. rubra).
