ID needed

Hello friends,

Can anyone tell me what kind of flowering plant this is? It is growing in front of a friend's house between the pavement and the brick road. It is pretty, but I can't tell what it is.

It is Hibiscus trionum I think.  If you put it down in the ID section (down towards the bottom of the main page) you may get more people to read and respond.  I think I'm right, but I don't mind at all being corrected.

I'd keep an eye on it in your garden for a while and see how it goes.  It has a reputation as a bit of a weed.  Lovely flowers though.  Mine died out.... go figure!!

Please tell me your secret to keep weeds out of your garden . I am fed up with weeding .

If I had one, I would pass it on.  Unfortunately, I have weed nemeses as well....... LOTS of them.    Obviously though the "weeds" that I want to grow won't!!    At least in the case of that Hibiscus.  Then again, the definition of a weed is just a plant that is growing in the wrong place.   In this case the wrong place is "not my garden".

No need for a paintbrush John. It sets lots of seeds and BTW I just found a few seedling this spring where they grew last year.
I had this plant already 40 years ago but lost it till I received 2 years ago a seed packet fro a kind old Lady in England
This year I mixed the new young plants whith Dahlia Bishop of Llandaff which looks tremendous!
I believe seedlings, if to many, are easily removed so don't be afraid for it in our climate.

That sounds like a very pretty combination- I will suggest it to a friend who is very fond of "the Bishop"
