For my Germination Project (in Children School)
« on: September 02, 2012, 11:37:37 AM »
Hello everybody

I discover this Forum recently and my reaction was "Woooooooa !"  Extraordinary ! What a diversity of plants !

I love Alpes and i return in this region of France every year to make photos and search news species of plants .

I am french man and i have initiate a personnal project (for the daugther of my brother and his School ) .

The project is base on the Alpines plants germination and i have prepared a Powerpoint SlideShow in order to present species of my travel and expose the nature of plants in this special climate.

I search some donator for Alpines seed (or little plants for make seed) .

I know i am new in this Forum but it's for a good project (Finally, I let you appreciate this ! )

I can exchange some seed but i don't have a real biodiversity as i compare to your collections  :o :o

But if you want to have my seed list...I am pleased to transmit to you !

I my project i want to expose the experience of seeding in a forum post ,and you can  follow the evolution of the expermiment.

Obviously it would be great to have protocol to follow with seeds by the donator or an expert of this forum.

if you want to know more explanation about this project , I'll be happy to answer you because it is a project that I want to heart.

For looking for my post in other site in French ..i am sorry ..you have see that my English is very poor and not very good  :'(

I hope that i have exposed correctly the idea of this project....and see you later !

Always a good idea to try to get children interested in growing plants and understanding how they grow. I wish you luck with your project.

Hello everybody,

PeterT, for the compost your question was for seed of campanula or for the project Germination of Alpins ?

If it's Campanula and the most of perennials plants, i use a mix of sand, loam (garden compost.) to lighten the soil.
It works pretty well so far.

If it's the project, for some species it's the same composition but for majority i think to use a mix of fine gravel schist stone and granite.
below gravels i user a mixed with sand and garden compost..

I try where possible restored the original soil.

For the moment i have Soldanella alpina and some other alpines plants (at the moment) and they feel good in the garden.

If you have proposition of special mix for Alpins , i'm interesting in !

bulborum (Roland), yes i'am interested in . Thanks for the proposition !  ;)
Have you other seed of Alpins plants for me ?
You like bulb of course  ;D , i have seed and bulb of Allium ursinum , are you interested in ?
I have seeding this plants and the propagation is very good. Germination very good too !
You're in France, so can propose you to exchange cypripedium pubescens i have against other interesting plants species if you want !
Do you want my list of seed ?

Thank's you and see you soon.
