Visiting San Diego in November what to see

Dear all
I am going to San Diego in November in a week or so and was hoping that someone can recommend nice gardens nurseryes or good "garden shops" to see inside San Diego.
I am especially interested in iris and daylillies and most bulbus plants.

Remember that there has been a major fire disaster there.  You might want to verify by phone that places are still accessible.

Mark Thanks for the link I saw some gardens there and also that some were closed due to the fire.
Gene we are very aware of the fires but the conference we are going to have not said anything about it so for the city I presume it is back to buissnes but for the surroundings there might be much that needs to be done.

I hoped that there would be some local knowledge here about stores (garden or plant) in the center or even better in the bay area that would be interesting to visit. As said before I am most interested in iris and daylillies that the US do so well.

We had a good trip and more pics will be shown in a later topic.
Here is a two teasers from gardens adjunct to Balboa park in San Diego
It is from the rose garden and the desert garden.
It is interesting to see what one can do with a lot of water and what one can do without adding any water
I am interesting to know what the tree with the pink flowers are or at least some guesses since I liked it.

No, sorry, still not able to think of a name for it. From that climate most likely something I've not met before. One of our Aussies from Olinda has connections with San diego and visits quite frequently. Maybe he would know if he's looking.

I would not expect to see iris and daylilies in San Diego.  Those are
the kinds of plants that people grow in cold areas.  San Diego has
a lot of the same kind of plants I've seen in Hawaii.

My favourite garden there is Quail Botanic Garden, a bit north of
San Diego in Encinitas.

There are big Mexican daisy trees - Montanoa,  and the
bamboo groves are stunning.  I was most impressed by one with
bright yellow giant culms.

Thanks Lesley for trying. They do not get frost or even close to if I got the temperatures right.

Diane we did not have the time to see Quail Botanic garden or the Wild animal park. That was the places I would have liked to visited apart from the ones we did. San Diego may not be the place for selling iris or day lilies but the "public green" (outside hotels etc) down town San Diego was half day lilies (big ones) and the rest "iris" and streglizia. I was even able to get seeds. Out side the watered areas it was quite a few "iris". See one example in the iris thread. In the professional gardens there were not much of iris and day lilies.
