Got a nice Three ships and Nothing special, managed to spend the same on two bulbs as I did last year but had to break my £10 limit, though 2 for what I spent evened it out so it still kind of worked, ish  ;)

Nice to see everyone again.

Amazing how exhausting having fun can be, isn't it?

How did Cheryl and the unsuspecting  Howard get on?

They both had a good day  :) I think Cheryl was pleased with Howard's grabbing capabilities.

Arthur and Jennie have just left my house.  A fantastic day with loads of lovely people.  I think the first post for my 'Kents this years blog' will now have to wait until tomorrow as I just want to put my feet up in front of the telly tonight.  lol

But - great day - great people - great plants - great venue - and not a half bad cup of tea too both at Myddleton and Art600s.

Malcolm - Joe's list often comes out in the first week of Feb.

Were you able to realize some of your wishes, Steve?
Hagen
Well, I managed to find three I had hoped for - Advent, Mosquito and Bishops Mitre - but I generally go in a spirit of adventure prepared to react to the unexpected. In this case it was a snowdrop called Crimean Emerald from the Monksilver table. I had never heard of it and knew nothing about it, but with an ancestor who fought in the Crimean war  it was a case of buy first and ask questions later!

I was struck again by the randomness of the snowdrops for sale. Snowdrops that have been part of a stallholder's regular portfolio over past years often seemed to be missing. There was barely a Wendy's Gold or Hill Poe in sight. Very few good doubles. No sign of Amy Doncaster, one of the best greentips.  It felt a bit haphazard, just as with certain snowdrop catalogues this season.

Another part of the pattern is visible on Ebay; the number of different varieties offered for sale so far this season is down by 50% on last season's range. Maybe the Gala will restore the usual range of varieties for sale, and maybe its just a case of the snowdrop sellers wanting to sell varieties at their flowering peak.

It's nice to hear (and see !) that a lot of forumnists had a wonderful day at Myddelton. Not only the snowdrops are important but the more the meeting with other plantsmen and galantophiles. But where are the pics ?

Hello Steve, your new CRIMEAN EMERALD must be a Galanthus plicatus with a lot of green.
If I had your history I would also buy this snowdrop.
Fred asked about the next good thing of Myddleton.
To meet another galanthophile must be good.
I hope to meet you at the Gala.

Aha, GoodGrief = Malcolm, the man in the Rab jacket.  I finally put two and two together after meeting last year.

I had a good time at the Myddleton House sale today, got to say hello to lots of people from the forum and stupidly missed the opportunity to say hello to some others - sorry.  It was a lovely bright day and actually quite warm if you could find yourself in a sunny spot out of the breeze.
Almost in Scotland.

Well, I took photo's of Myddleton's fabulous new 'Victorian' greenhouses... very envious. As for the snowdrops, they couldn't quite yet believe that the sun was shining.

Photos of the frenzy at the sales tables might startle weaker souls!

Malcolm.

But where are the pics ?
