Members in Africa.
« on: November 25, 2012, 01:48:44 PM »
I would like to contact any member based in Africa who might be willing to help with a child's school project. The child is based in California and, along with classmates, is attempting to send a picture of a greenback turtle to each of the continents and then back to base.

The picture came to me from a friend of a friend in Maryland, somewhat in desperation, as they didn't see how they could make this happen. I have managed to arrange contacts in S. America, Asia and Australia but need someone in Africa.

All that is required is that the volunteer would take a photograph of his/herself with the picture of the turtle and e-mail it to the school and then post it along to the next recipient - I will have a name and address ready.

I feel sure I will find someone from Africa to volunteer but really am at a loss as to what to suggest for Antarctica. What had the teacher in mind when s/he suggested this project to the misfortunate children!

Various Forum members in Africa-  it is Antarctica that will be the problem -  I have a plan though - going to ask a contact in the BGS if they might be able to help!   ;)

Crikey, Paddy, don't call me that : someone will want to bury me in a field and not bother looking for me for four hundred years......... either that or lock me in a vault ...I don't  much fancy  either of those possibilities!

Anthony, this is a green turtle drawn and coloured on a piece of paper - in other words, I don't know. It is obviously a project for a group of younger children.

Delighted to say I have a contact in Africa. Many thanks to Rogan who volunteered to help - or volunteered one of his sons.

Antarctica anybody?

A project slightly similar to that travelling giraffe a year or two ago, but
in that case, the travel was by bicycle.
