Schlumbergera - Christmas or Holiday Cactus

So far no thread about these cacti. They're flowering in late autumn when it's dull and grey outside.

The first species to flower in september was S. orssichiana with quite large flowers.

S. truncata is one parent of all of the modern hybrids commercially available

Quite some are different shades of pink.

Other colours which flowered so far are shades of red and orange.

Lovely flowers Thomas. The only one I grow (at the moment) is S. opuntioides, which flowers in very early spring for me, so my plant is currently in bud.

When I saw this heading I thought there must be some mistake and someone had started their festive celebrations early.  :o Schlumbergera sounds as if you are slurring your words already ;D

Didn't they use to be called Zygo (Zigo) cactus?  Shows how out of touch I am, but I shall have to have a few glasses of something alcoholic before I tackle Schlumbergera.

Lovely pictures though, we just have one pink one and it has just finished flowering.

The white Aspen is flowering with a small flower. Samba Brasil is really colourful - starting with pink buds which turn to white, yellow, orange and red flowers. Love this one!

Spectacular. Had no idea such gorgeous cvs even existed. Here in South America they flower in early/mid autumn.

Here in Brazil is known as the May-flower, as bloom in the month of May.
Valter saia developed many colors.
