Seems perfectly straightforward to me. Amazon had originally been given a publication date to allow them to make the book available from 1 October and advertised the book as such. For whatever reason this didn't materialise, Amazon therefore can't supply and notifies customers who had placed orders that they will supply as soon as they are able (ie. when they get the book).
This happens all the time, those of us who had ordered the re-print of A Guide to Species Irises from Amazon must have been waiting over a year beyond the target publication date.

I ordered mine from Kewbooks.com as was suggested earlier. No problems there.
Don't know when I am going to get it, but then I have rather a lot of books not properly read yet - I can wait.

When I told Phil Cribb last Monday that I had bought his book, he couldn't believe it as it hadn't been printed yet.
I've kept the receipt from Kew Books.

The kew books web site now states that the book is expected to be published at the end of December.
Fingers crossed!

Got mine too this morning. Collaboration between Phillip Cribb and Werner Frosch. Great, resulting in great pictures, also of latest hybrids and enough information to learn how to grow them. I'll keep it on the coffee table to look at the pictures. But Phil Cribb's
Genus Cypripedium
stays on my bedside table for reading.

Maren,
mine arrived today as well. It is a bit of a coffee table book with superb photos.
Each species has a double page spread with half a dozen pictures of different clones showing variation in flowers. Most were photographed in the wild.
I didn't know that there were forms of reginae with creamy yellow lips.
Interesting that they advise to feed potted plants at double strength as they are starting to grow in the spring.
Definitely not as much botanical information as 'Cribb' but more accessible and up to date for those who are just starting out.
