Heather Raeburn is a botanical artist living and working in Edinburgh. Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art, she has worked successfully in illustrative design and portraiture.
In 2006 Heather decided to fulfill a long held ambition and turned her talents to botanical painting, studying at the Royal Botanical Gardens where she quickly merged her natural abilities for observation and fine detail to produce beautiful botanical paintings.
Heather has been invited to exhibit at both the Royal Horticultural Society in London, and Botanical Images Scotia at Gardening Scotland. Heather has been commissioned by Mark Hughes to make ink drawing of a newly described Begonia species,
Begonia scottii.
Heather is showing a range of around 17 watercolours, plus works in progress, in her Through the Looking Glass exhibition, in the John Hope Gateway at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - the exhibition continues until February 24th 2013.
Included are watercolours of
Iris acutiloba subsp. lineolata which was
Collected in Iran by John Mitchell of RBGE.
