Thanks everyone, to see Myosotos arnoldii in the wild was a highlight of this year for me Maggi.
It was a brilliant trip, Steve, Jack and I travelled the top of the south, flying up to Hoaryhead, visiting some great gardens, Pupu springs (clearest water in the world) and then climbed Mt Stokes (1240 metres), the highest mountain in the Marlborough sounds, (and home to our giant snail, Powelliphanta.)
Sleeping under the stars was a great new experience for my son, with Weka's trying to pinch our belongings, including my toe at one stage! Unfortunately the weather turned horrible with gale force winds / rain and we ended up with soaking sleeping bags.
As you can see below, Steve had a most excellent ride on the coal mine trolley ride....

Doug, thank you for these beautiful pictures, the Myosotis is
really sensational. Are there Clematis marmoraria at the
other photos?

There is a new book which may be useful to those interested in New Zealand Alpines - especially if they are contemplating a trip.

Above the Treeline, a nature guide to alpine New Zealand
 by Alan F. Mark
 ISBN 9781877517761

http://www.craigpotton.co.nz/store/above-the-treeline

http://www.craigpotton.co.nz/about-craig-potton-publishing/our-authors-photographers-and-illustrators/alan-mark

This book deals not only with the flora above the treeline  but also with the fauna - be prepared for assorted Wetas!

It seems Sir Alan Mark has had many fellow contributors to this book, though not any of the local mountain hoppers who have contributed to the Forum and who have so greatly contributed to our knowledge and understanding of that beautiful country.  I'm sure it is a  useful book, nonetheless!  ;)

Later edit: Good news, there are photos from several NZ forumists adding to this book  8)

We all get a mention Maggi . David Lyttle has a lot of pictures in there . Toolie and Doug have quite a few in there too . I have a solitary picture in the book purely by accident . Alan Mark went to one of Toolie's talks and ordered some images off the big screen for his new book and Toolie had borrowed a few images from me , so he made sure I had the credit for it

PS had a great time at the study weekend . Great lectures from Doug,Shannel,Harry , Bob and Rannveig . Fermi organised a forumists picture which I'm sure he will post soon

I'm glad those folks have got some credit, Steve - the sample pages of the book I saw did not  mention any of you folks. :(

Dave T and David L have mostly moved across to the US forum to play, but I'm sure you'll pass on our congratulations...... :)
