The day will include talks by two of the SRGC’s long-standing friends and leading lights, a picnic lunch, time to catch up with friends and chat, with the chance to see the special Explorers Garden. The programme starts at 10:00 a.m. when the reception desk opens and tea and coffee is served. The welcome at 10:45 will be followed by a lecture by
Ron McBeath. There will be a picnic lunch at 12 noon (bring your own food), followed by a lecture by our friend
Panayoti Kelaidis from Denver Botanic Garden. We will finish with refreshments in the Douglas Pavilion at 3:30 p.m. Pitlochry is a great place to visit, the scenery is spectacular, the welcome is always warm and there are so many things to see and do. So why not come to the party and take the opportunity to make a long weekend of it? You can meet friends, hunt some Scottish alpines and take in some culture by seeing a performance at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre (

The Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserve at nearby Keltneyburn is a great place (

The drive from Glen Lyon to Loch Tay provides the chance to do some roadside botanizing, with Saxifraga oppositifolia and Silene acaulis in flower.
For those wanting to stretch their legs, the 4-hour walk up Ben Vrackie gives access to the flora of this areawith orchids and Loiseleuria procumbens growing at your feet. To top it all, why not visit the famous Cluny Gardens (
www.clunyhousegardens.com) to see the amazing primulas.
There is so much to see and do, you can’t help but have a great time. To help us celebrate, two hotels in Pitlochry have agreed to offer a special discounted rate for anyone attending the birthday party. On Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd June, Fishers Hotel (
