2007/2008 seed exchange
« on: November 20, 2007, 02:49:18 AM »
hello,

This is my first year as a member and am just wondering how this years seed exchange is coming along?
I am an overseas member and I am correct in that I should be automatically sent a seed list?  So far, haven't received anything....sure don't want to be left out.

Hi Michele, all of the people involved in the Seed Ex are very efficient and I am sure your copy of the List will turn up in the next few weeks. If you haven't had a copy say, by mid December, and you send a private Mail to Maggi I,m sure she would be willing to follow it up for you. Yopu are right and overseas members are sent a copy automatically.

Hi, Folks and a warm welcome to Michele.  Yes, I hear the seedlist is out and yes, i also hear  there is a problem with some pages. I have not heard yet what is to be done about this. Neither have I heard when the list will appear on the website. When it does, that should solve the missing pages problem though I realise you will want to get ordering before then!  I had hoped that the list would be send for the web at around the same time as it was posted out ...perhaps it was an there is a problem getting it online. There have been some difficulties with loading to the main site lately. I have been laid up for a couple of days but nothing seems to have come this way but I'll try to find out what I can as soon as poss.

Chris, you are not an overseas member so you would have to request your list, except that you are a Donor, I know, so should have received one. I'll follow up on that, too.

Hope you are feeling better now, Maggi!  Lot of colds and flu going around just now.  I'll wait patiently for my list to appear.  Do they send it by email or snail mail?

Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  My list arrived this morning.  So exciting to see so many armeria seeds donated - thank you to those who did so!!!!

I know they are not as 'exciting' as some bulbs or other delicacies, but to me they really are.

And I see someone also donated seed from Diascia 'Joyce's Choice' - wonder what that will do?  Certainly won't come true, but may produce some interesting new cultivars.  If you get any and grow it, I'd love to see the result (they usually flower same year as sown).  That particular Diascia was one of the first to be shown by Jeff Hamilton on Gardener's World.  He spotted it at Chelsea where it was first exhibited.  Not exciting by today's standards, but at the time it was an important breakthrough in colour, as was D. 'Lilac Belle' both bred by Hector Harrison, who has since died.  Joyce is his wife.

News from a distraught Stuart Pawley:
He is deeply distressed that the printer (not the usual printer) has changed the font size of the document without permission and has also contrived to produce faulty copies in about 15 per cent of the lists, with various different pages missing from different copies.
So, the good news is that 85 per cent of you will have correct versions of the seed list but an unlucky 15 per cent will have pages missing. We will try to get the proper, complete seed list online for you to check as soon as possible but, in the meantime, if you are one of those with missing pages, email me and I will get a copy to you.
If you hear of a friend with missing pages and no email access , perhaps you could act as a go betweeen for them and we'll try to get everyone supplied with the correct document in the end!
Sincere apologies for bother caused to those with faulty copies,
Cheers,
 Maggi
